Hello,
We are heading into the championship games in both leagues, so lets get caught up with how the playoffs have gone so far:
PIFF: The playoffs started in week 15, the Kreplachistan Rebels and Tuskestan Pickles got first round byes, while the Tea Republic Steepers beat the Scotslandi Kilters and the Svinksland Pillagers beat the Ninja Isle Eldars.
The second week of playoffs saw the Kreplachistan Rebels beat the Tea Rebulic Steepers, while the Svinksland Pillagers got on by the Tsukestan Picklers.
This sets up the Championship Game of the Kreplachistan Rebels vs. the Svinksland Pillagers. This will be the second time that the Pillagers have made it to the championship game, the other time was the first season of PIFF in which they lost to the Grog Island Drunks. The Rebels on the other hand have played in more than half of the championship games (this will make 4 out of 7) and is the only team to be the champion twice (2004 & 2007). The projected score for the game is giving an edge to the Rebels by only one point.
PIML: The PIML playoffs started last week and had the Tea Republic Boilers taking out the Tai Shu Trip'ems, while the Battle Cove Coasters beat the late surging Pesce Bay Savvy Sirens.
So the first ever PIML championship game will be played out between the two heavy favorite from the start of the season - the Battle Cove Coasters and the Tea Republic Boilers. Early reports heavily favor the Boilers however that projected score greatly depends on the performance of Chris Johnson for the Boilers.
I will get out the final All-Star totals as well as season All-Stars after the Championship Games.

PIFF/PIML Week 11 & 12 Wrap-up and All-stars
Hello,
Sorry about missing a week -I had tons of stuff to do at work, you would think everybody would be slacking off before Thanksgiving, but no.
First I should congratulate Mike (of the Picklers) and Julia (of the Kilters) on their first baby. They have a good amount of pictures posted on Facebook so check them out. Huzzah!
It is starting to come down to the last couple of games in the regular season for the football leagues so let's see how the playoff races are shaping up:
PIFF: There are two weeks left before the first round of the newly expanded playoffs. Right now the Picklers (8-4) and Kilters (8-4) are fighting for the Red Division championship and a first round bye. While the Pillagers (8-4) and the Rebels (effectivly 8-4) are battling over the Black Division. This leaves the Steepers (7-5), Maties (6-5-1), Eldars & Plankers (6-6), and the Snotknockers & Nites (5-7) to fight over the last two playoff spots.
PIML: There are three weeks until the playoffs in the PIML. There are four spots and five teams still in the hunt. The Coasters and the Boilers are in the lead with 7-5 records, while the Savvy Sirens, Trip 'ems, and Focus are all 6-6.

PIFF/PIML Highlights and All-Stars 09 Week 10
Week 10 was Yahoo proclaimed rivalry week, I tried to match up as many rivals as possible, and it looked like there were some close games.
PIFF: The big game of the week was the Plankers and Pillagers fighting to a 42-42 draw. That result leaves the Plankers half a game out of a playoff spot, and allowed the Rebels to take the lead in the Black Division. In the Red Division the Picklers and the Steepers are tied with a 7-3 record for the lead, many other teams are close behind.
PIML: The Savvy Sirens are on a three game winning streak and the Coasters are on a two game losing streak. This has allowed the Sirens to share the lead in the league with the Coasters and the Trip'ems. The Boilers are fourth with the Focus and Monkey Strings close behind.

PIFF/PIML Highlights and All-Stars 09 Week 9
Hello,
First off remember that the first football games each week will be on Thursday so make sure you look over your team before then.
PIFF: The Kilters are on a three game winning streak to be tied on top of the Red Division with a 6-3 record. The other teams with a 6-3 record are the Picklers and Steepers. In the Black Division the Pillagers have won two in a row and are now half a game ahead of the Rebels.
PIML: The Savvy Sirens and the Trip'ems both posted wins with 45 points scored, and both gained ground on the leading Coasters. Also the Focus has been on a two game winning streak which has caught them up to the faltering Boilers.

PIFF/PIML Highlights and All-Stars 09 Week 8
Hello,
The NFL is now halfway through it's season and the what the heck are the Saints doing still being undefeated? A bit of news is that this will be the last week for Coaches being included in the All-Stars since StatTracker has now made it impossible to find out optimal scores the day after the games are over.
PIFF: In a surprise to no one the Red Division is getting even closer, all teams are within one game of each other, and there are four teams at 5-3. The big win for the weekend was the Eldars putting up big numbers on the Picklers. The Black Division seems to be more of a three team race with the Rebels owning a half game lead on the Pillagers and Plankers.
PIML: The Battle Cove Coasters beat the Tai Shu Trip'ems soundly to take the lead in the PIML. The Savvy Sirens and the Boilers are trying to keep up as the Monkey Strings and Focus limp on behind.

Hello,
We are now half way through the regular season.
PIFF: The Red Division continues to be very hotly contested with three teams tied atop the standings: The Picklers, Steepers, and Maties with 5-2 records. While the Black Division sees the Rebels get half a game up on the Pillagers.
PIML: There is starting to be a divide in the teams now with the Battle Cove Coasters, and the Tai Shu Trip'ems leading the way. Next week they will play against each other for the lead in the league.

PIFF/PIML Highlights and All-Stars 09 Week 6
Hello,
We are just past a third of the way through the football season, and the divide between the good and the bad teams in the NFL seems to be huge. The mismatches in the NFL mean high scoring games in fantasy football. I think this week was one of the highest scoring weeks in a long time.
PIFF: The Black Division continues to be hotly contested as all teams are either 3-3 or 4-2, while the Red Division is starting to show some separation between the top and bottom teams. The Plankers and Nites combines for more than 100 points this week as the Plankers pulled off a win (some help from Tom Brady) to keep pace with the Pillagers.
PIML: The Battle Cove Coasters won a close game with the Boilers to take the lead in the league with a record of 3-1-2. The Savvy Sirens was able to beat out the Focus to even out their record at 3-3.

PIFF/PIML Highlights and All-Stars 09 Week 5
Hello,
During a week of NFL games that had some pretty large blowouts we had a good week of close games in PIFF, and even more ties in PIML.
PIFF: The Red Division showed it's power this week as every one of their teams won. In the one of the closest games of the week bottom dwelling Ninja Isle Eldars pulled off a win against the Black Division leader Pillagers. This brings the Eldars record up to 2-3 with both wins coming against Black Division opponents.
PIML: Tai Shu Trip'ems were able to rebound from their loss last week to beat the Pesce Bay Savvy Sirens to take over the lead in PIML. The Battle Cove Coasters battled their way to a tie with the purple monkeys to take over second place in the league.

PIFF/PIML Highlights and All-Stars 09 Week 4
Hello,
Everyone survived the first round of byes last week (however some did better than others). In both leagues there isn't one team that looks to be unstoppable this year, so each week is important to keep up with, or in front of, the pack.
PIFF: The Netthuania Nites trounced the Sparrow Island Maties 59-14. This leaves both teams at 2-2 and in the middle of the pack in the standings. Also the Snotknockers were able to pull off an improbable win against the Plankers, with Jarred Allen socring 13 points during the Monday Night football game.
PIML: This week saw some teams fail to fill their roster, but luckily everyone who did won their game. The big win was the Battle Cove Coasters trampling the Trip'ems 48 - -2. Ouch.

Project Madden PIFF 2010
Hey all,
So I've taken on a big undertaking of putting PIFF Teams into Madden 2010. This entails quite a bit of time for each team, especially the drafting.
What I'm doing for Team Location is where the Team Owner is living now, so for example the Kreplachistan Rebels are based out of Schofield Barracks, HI. The Snotvia Snotknockers and Tea Repbulic Steepers are out of Tulsa, OK, etc.
Shannon was nice enough to provide me the RGB values for the official PIFF helmets, so the jerseys are licensed by the PIFF Commissioner ;) I'm doing my best to use the limited Logos in Madden to match up best with the logos/theme of the team in PIFF. So for the Rebels "Sun" logo (ie a big yellow circle) I had to match it with the Madden Atom logo, and for the Tea Republic Steepers their "Tea Football Leaf" matches best with the Madden Meteor logo.
I wish Madden 2010 had the feature NCAA Football 2010 has called Team Builder where you can create a team online, then anyone could download it into NCAA 2010. That would make life much easier, I'd tell you to create your team jerseys, stadium, we could actually import logos from image files on the computer to use, etc. But sadly they don't and with Madden we have to deal with the limited logos and team creation options they have...
My next solution would be to tell you to go out and rent Madden 2010 for the PS3, create your jersey, stadium, and tell me the values and I'd input it, but I understand not everyone has a PS3, or doesn't care that much lol.
So for unforms, the helmets are best duplicated from the PIFF helmet logos we use in Yahoo. I need to know what colors people want for their home/away jerseys, home/away pants, socks, shoes. In the mean time I'll input the colors with the values Shannon provided and leave it at what Madden defaults the uniforms to.
For example the Kreplachistan Rebels main colors are Yellow and Blue. I already know what the exact values are for those blues and yellow, so you'd just have to tell me, I want all Yellow Jerseys with Blue Numbers, names, yellow pants with white stripes, etc. For away jerseys, white jerseys, yellow trim, yellow pants, etc. You get the idea. Maybe my vision of your team would is different from yours, and ultimately it's your team so I'd love to get everyone's input :)
For Stadiums, take a look here Madden 2008 Create a Stadium. Tell me the name of your stadium, the endzone area title, mine is titled the "Tomlinson Fsn Club" after my star running back LT :D Do you want your field to be grass or turf? What color for your endzones? You want a dome, open stadium, mobile roof, etc. For outdoor stadiums pick your background enviornment like downtown, rural, urban, mountains. Do you want a huge modern scoreboard on one end zone, pressboxes, more seats?
Now for the drafting, which is quite a pain compared to other Madden's I've done this in. Fortunately there's a site that lists the Madden 2010 values for the players on each team, because Madden doesn't break down fantasy drafts by team, they just do it by position and rating. Obviously I draft everyone on your team, QBs, RBs, WRs, etc. For OL and FBs here's what I did for mine team. I have LT (SD), Thomas Jones (NYJ), and Willis McGahee (BAL) as my running backs. Anyway I take the entire O-Lines for the Chargers, Jets, and Ravens, and same for Full Back (LT, LG, C, RG, RT, etc.) and fill your team with the best of the players from those teams. Same for defense, I have the Packers and Ravens, so I do the same, assemble all the Packers and Ravens D, and draft them, etc. For Punters I look at the punter for the team(s) you have your Kicker on, and pick the better one.
Madden requires a certain number of players at each position:
QB - 2
HB - 3
FB - 1
WR - 4
TE - 2
LT - 2
LG - 2
C - 2
RG - 2
RT - 2
K - 1
LE - 2
RE - 2
DT - 3
LOLB - 2
MLB - 2
ROLB - 2
CB - 4
FS - 2
SS - 2
P - 1
So say you only have 3 WRs on your team, I'll fill your 4th with the same player for every team to make it fair. I also draft your IDPs on top of the best spots for DEF, so while I may have the best combo btw the Packers and Ravens, I also have Julius Peppers, and Adrian Wilson on my team. I let Madden auto depth chart, etc.
I've drafted the Rebels like six times lol, and that's how I came up with the idea for the combining of teams. The first couple of times I did the Rebels, I just did San Diego's OL and Baltimore's DEF. But after realizing if you want to change players you have to re-draft your whole team, I thought well what happens when I sim the game when Baltimore or San Diego has a bye, what to do then? That's when I got the combo idea.
So why am I doing all this you might ask? I want to see how Madden is at simming/predicting the outcomes of PIFF games. Yeah I understand it's different in "Madden PIFF" because when I play the Plankers, Aaron Rodgers is facing the Plankers, not the team the Packers play that week. I also want to upload highlights from the games, as I know Madden supports uploading highlights for the games. I thought that'd be a fun "column" for the PIFF Blog :)
Comments, suggestions, critiques? Yes I realize this takes quite a bit of time, but I'm having fun doing it, just like Shannon has fun designing the helmets and logos. I'll keep you posted as I go. Right now I just have my team drafted, and started designing the Steepers in the game. While I wait for everyone's replies I'll just input the colors Shannon provided, draft your team, and make sure the jerseys look OK, without messing with them too much.
Rock Rock on!

PIFF/PIML Highlights and All-Stars 09 Week 3
Hello,
Week three is in the books and the injury toll is starting to rise around the league. Some major players were knocked out early in their games like last week Frank Gore and Chad Pennington which lead to some surprising results in the fantasy football world.
PIFF: Davin's Pillagers continue on their non-losing ways and are sitting atop PIFF with a record of 2-0-1. The rest of the field is close behind, especially in the Red Division where 4 of the 6 teams are 2-1. One team that is surprising in a bad way is the Piratly Vampirates who have already as many losses as they did all of last year (2).
PIML: Two of the three PIML games ended in a tie this week with the only win going to the Harmakipa Monkey Strings that dominated the Focus 39-8. This was the first win ever for the Purple Monkeys.

PIFF/PIML Highlights and All-Stars 09 Week 2
Week two is finished and in both leagues there is 1 team in each division that is undefeated, 1 that has lost both games, and the rest is 1-1. It looks like there might not be a runaway team this year in either league.
In PIFF the Scotslandi Kilters put the smack down on the Maties winning 51-17. The Pillagers are one of the 2 win teams however they have scored the least amount of points in either league. They have been very lucky with their match-ups so far. Meanwhile the Picklers who are the other 2-0 in PIFF has scored 82 points which is tied for the best total points.
In the PIML the surprising Tai Shu Trip'ems are leading the way with a 2-0 record. However the Boilers posted an impressive 53 points which was 23 more points than anyone else in the PIML.
Edit 09.23.09: Change to PIFF All-Star coach from Jenette to Julia.

PIFF/PIML Highlights and All-Stars 09 Week 1
The first week is over, and some teams picked up where they left off last season and there looks to be some new threats out there.
First I should point out that over at pirateislandsff.blogspot.com is the blog for PIFF and PIML, in the past I have just reposted the emails with some images in them. This year however there will be incentive to go check out the blog because Aaron (Kreplachistan Rebels) has been added as an author of the blog and he will be writing articles about the season as it happens. He has good insight into Fantasy Football so be sure to check up on the blog to see what he has to say.
In the PIFF both the Steepers and the Plankers posted big numbers in their wins, both teams look to maintain their high competition level this year. The two surprise teams after the first week are the Nites who are second in scoring in the Black Division, and the Picklers who usually save their wins for the second half of the season. It looks like this will be a tougher season all the way around for everyone in the PIFF.
PIML kicked off the opening week with round of high scores. The Battle Cove Coasters had little trouble with the Boilers. While the Focus outlasted the Sirens and the Trip'ems tripped up the MonkeyStrings. The Trip'ems posted the high score for the week in the PIML.
Socring is up in week 1, due to two things: 1) Receiving yards now score one point for each 20 yards. 2) There are now bonuses for rushing, throwing, and receiving yards. There might be a couple too many points on the board but we'll live with it for a season and see how things go.
On to the week 1 All-Stars. For a review (or maybe for the first time):
A player must be played to be an All-Star.
Ties are broke by determining which player contributed the most to his team percent wise.
The Coach was decided by seeing which team played most of the points possible, so Matt got 96% of the points possible for his team last week (actual/optimal=percent possible)
